The Fourth Year of the BHMS program builds upon the clinical knowledge and practical skills developed during the earlier years of the course. It focuses strongly on the clinical application of medical knowledge, diagnosis and management of diseases, repertorisation, community health, and advanced understanding of Materia Medica and Organon of Medicine. The year emphasizes developing clinical reasoning and the ability to apply homeopathic principles in the management of patients.

Duration:
The fourth year of the BHMS program is part of the five-and-a-half-year BHMS course, which includes the compulsory one-year internship. It generally consists of academic study, clinical training, practical work, and university examinations as prescribed by the curriculum.

Basic Structure:
The fourth year focuses on the integration of clinical medicine with homeopathic principles. Students develop a deeper understanding of disease diagnosis, clinical examination, repertorisation, remedy selection, case management, and preventive and promotive aspects of community health. Greater emphasis is placed on applying theoretical knowledge to actual clinical cases.

Subjects Overview:
Medicine:
Covers the diagnosis, clinical features, investigations, differential diagnosis, complications, and management of various medical diseases. Students develop skills in history taking, general and systemic examination, interpretation of investigations, and clinical decision-making, along with understanding the role of homeopathy in patient management.
Repertory:
Focuses on the systematic study and application of repertories for solving clinical cases. Students learn case analysis, evaluation of symptoms, conversion of symptoms into rubrics, repertorisation, selection of appropriate remedies, and interpretation of repertorial results.
Community Medicine:
Deals with the principles of public health, prevention of diseases, health promotion, epidemiology, environmental health, nutrition, communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and national health programs. It emphasizes the role of the physician in improving the health of individuals and communities.
Materia Medica:
Continues the detailed study of homeopathic medicines, with emphasis on their characteristic symptoms, mental and physical generals, particular symptoms, modalities, relationships, and clinical indications. Students learn to differentiate between similar remedies and apply Materia Medica knowledge in clinical cases.
Organon of Medicine:
Provides an advanced understanding of the principles and philosophy of homeopathy. It includes the study of the laws and principles of cure, case-taking, totality of symptoms, individualization, chronic diseases, miasmatic theory, posology, potency, repetition of doses, and the application of Organon principles in clinical practice.

Practical Training:
Practical training emphasizes clinical case-taking, physical examination, diagnosis, repertorisation, Materia Medica correlation, and application of Organon principles. Students also participate in community-based activities, health education, disease prevention programs, and clinical discussions.

Assessment:
Evaluation is carried out through written university examinations, practical and clinical examinations, viva voce, case presentations, repertorisation exercises, internal assessments, assignments, and other academic activities as prescribed by the university and regulatory curriculum.
