Primary & Secondary Emotions -
1. Primary Emotions (Basic Emotions)
- Definition: Primary emotions are innate, universal, and present from birth.
- Features:
– Inborn (not learned)
– Common to all humans
– Quick and automatic - Examples: Happiness, Sadness, Fear, Anger, Surprise, Disgust
2. Secondary Emotions (Complex Emotions)
- Definition: Secondary emotions are learned and develop later through experience and social interaction.
- Features:
– Not present at birth
– Influenced by culture and learning
– Combination of primary emotions - Examples: Guilt, Shame, Jealousy, Pride, Love
Positive & Negative Emotions -
1. Positive Emotions
- Definition: Emotions that produce pleasant feelings and promote well-being.
- Features:
– Improve mental health
– Enhance social relationships
– Increase motivation - Examples: Happiness, Love, Joy, Gratitude, Hope
2. Negative Emotions
- Definition: Emotions that produce unpleasant feelings but are important for survival and adaptation.
- Features:
– Help in danger awareness
– Can be harmful if excessive - Examples: Anger, Fear, Sadness, Anxiety, Jealousy
