Functioning
Functioning is the expression of internal physiological or psychological systems that cannot be observed externally with the naked eye, but can be detected and measured using specialized instruments.
Examples of Functions Requiring Instruments -
- Brain Activity → measured by EEG (Electroencephalogram) or fMRI.
- Cardiac Function → measured by ECG (Electrocardiogram).
- Respiratory Function → measured by Spirometer.
- Muscle Activity → measured by EMG (Electromyogram).
- Hormonal Function → measured by blood assays for hormone levels.
- Stress Response → measured by galvanic skin response (GSR) or cortisol levels.
