The three major domains of human development are -

1. Physical Development

  • Involves changes in the body and brain, motor skills, and health.
  • Examples: growth in height and weight, puberty, fine and gross motor skills, brain maturation.
  • Focuses on biological and physiological changes.

2. Cognitive Development

  • Refers to changes in thinking, reasoning, memory, problem-solving, and language.
  • Examples: learning to speak, developing logical reasoning, acquiring academic skills, creativity.
  • Emphasizes intellectual growth and mental processes.

3. Psychosocial Development

  • Concerns emotional, social, and personality growth.
  • Examples: forming relationships, developing self-identity, emotional regulation, moral values.
  • Focuses on how individuals interact with others and manage emotions.
