- the scientific study of how and why human beings change, grow, and adapt across their lifespan, from conception to death. It examines physical, cognitive, social, and emotional changes, covering topics like motor skills, language acquisition, moral understanding, and personality formation
- Example: A child learning problem-solving, empathy, or teamwork.
3. Interconnection
- Growth and development are interrelated: physical growth supports development and development influences growth.
- Example: Adequate nutrition (growth factor) enhances brain development, while emotional support (development factor) can influence healthy physical growth.

- Duration– Lifelong process; continues through learning and adaptation
